Review: Revlon Colorstay Pen Eyeliner

About a week ago I ran to a nearby Longs Drugstore [CVS Pharmacy],and although not what I originally came for, I noticed that a Revlon eyeliner pen was on sale, so I decided to try it out. I had seen these eyeliner pens, but had never bought one. Assuming that Revlon was a relatively reputable drugstore brand, I bought it to try out.

The pen looks just like a normal pen. The shade I got was 'Blackest brown'.
The tip is pretty fine, and maks it very easy to accurately line eyes, especially the lower lash line. I like the control that a pen gives.
However, I don't like this ColorStay pen. Above, shows the results of stroking the pen across my hand once, and underneath is several times. It's too light and hardly noticeable after even a few times of tracing the line when I line my eyes. When I end up tracing several times like the second line, it irritates the sensitive skin around my eyes. It feels as though my eyes were scratched at! :O

In addition, this eyepen is not 'ColorStay' as it claims. I used this pen, and in only a few hours, the 'ink' from the pen started to turn crumbly and almost ball up and fall off. At about noon time, I only had crumbling remains of eyeliner, it looked more like a bruise instead of a line.

My rating would be about a 2/10. Two stars for the 'pen' design. It's a great idea, I just wonder if some other brands work better.

I won't be able to blog for much of the rest of the weekend! So, enjoy your weekend and relax!

Nails, Cupcakes, and More!

I am not always able to blog daily, but in this post I have some exciting things to share with you! So with that, lets get started!!!

First, one of the best ways to keep your skin hydrated is to keep your body well-hydrated. The best way to do this is by drinking liquids, and by that I mean water [Sorry, soda doesn't count! >:P] Although the climate where I live is relatively moderate and known for it's good weather, this summer has brought about some heat waves! (In future posts, I'll be writing about how to keep your makeup fresh-looking on hot days!) Anyways, at Juicy Couture, an employee was handing out free water bottles to the shoppers!

Remember to stay hydrated! Cute water bottles are a plus! ^_^
LinkNext up! Craving sweets? I certainly am!! I've always been a devoted Sprinkles Cupcakes customer! Instead of a pie or cake for my last birthday, I opted for cupcakes, which got me hooked on these sweet treats!
Sprinkles was founded by Candace Nelson in Beverley Hills, CA and has expanded to seven locations, three of which are in California! I love going to the cute little store when I can! It always smells so good!
Upon going into the store, all of the cupcakes are out, and it makes me want to buy every flavor...such yumminess! Sprinkles bakes 22 flavors in all, but only sells 12 flavors each day! Some popular flavors, like red velvet, are made everyday, although some less-popular ones are made only one day out of the week! See their flavor and schedule here!
At $3.25 each [or $36 per dozen], these sweet indulgences are not something an average person could buy everyday. Shown above are the cupcakes I purchased Wednesday (strawberry and red velvet). Actually the Strawberry (left) was free because I was one of the first 25 people to whisper their 'secret word' which can be found on their facebook page daily! On Wednesday, I whispered 'shortcake' to get the free Strawberry cupcake, and I purchased the other cupcake shown on the right.
They are so delicious...yum! These are actually my favorite flavors! The frosting has to be the best part...
I had returned home and taken them out of the to-go box to admire them, and to my horror, I realized that they might dry out! Nobody likes to eat dry cupcakes, especially when they are normally so moist (and $ to say the least), so I had an idea... I took a container, and stuck it over the cupcake to prevent it from drying out! When I came back to eat my cupcake later, it was still perfectly moist!
To finish up talking about cupcakes, today I went and whispered 'fresh' and got a free lemon cupcake! Yum! Starting tomorrow until the beginning of August, Sprinkles will be selling CHERRY CUPCAKES for a limited time! I'm definitely going to get one, you should too! For those who can't, I'll take pictures and let you know how they taste!
I have a hobby for decorating nails, that you can then glue on to your real nails for some sparkle and beautification! Out of hair, makeup, and nails, the latter has to be my greatest passion!

A few days ago, I decorated some plastic nails, and today, I glued them to my fingers!
I originally wanted to do alternatin colors on my right hand [like the left], but Kiwii , being a klutz, messed up! hehe. Here is a close-up of the right hand! They are so pretty! I especially love the shade of blue!
I think the nails look the best outside, bceause the sunlight makes the glitter even more sparkly! The only drawback to these nails, is that it takes a while to get used to their length if you have never worn acrylics or kept your nails long previously. In addition, sometimes its hard to type on a keyboard, or do other tasks, but I get by and so can you! :]
I will post more of my designs soon! These are relatively simple, but I like their sparkle! Pretty soon I'd like to get a store up and running so you all can purchase some nails! For now, this style is for sale for $25 a set. I hand-decorate each nail, all you need is nail glue to apply them! :] If you are interested, please let me know the colors you would like and also to size your nails to ensure that they fit! Have questions? Just comment!

**I'll be doing a post soon about nails, and how I care for the ones I make, how to measure your nails..etc. **

Thats all for today! That was a long post!

Love,

Obon Festival

Sorry I didn't blog for a few days; my weekend was spent at the Obon Festival! I saw my friends, played games, won prizes, and ate wonderful food. Although this isn't really a 'beauty' topic, I'll write about it anyways!

I ate some wonderful Japanese food! The udon was tasty, especially since I haven't had it in a while. You could pick hot or cold dashi, or broth. Because udon is normally a hot noodle, I got it hot. I love it with green onions on top, even though I don't normally like onions!

Next was the Unagi! I am a huge fan of unagi, or eel. Some people don't like to eat the skin, but I ate all of it! I love the sauce that goes on the unagi! It gives the rice and the eel flavor!
The obon festival had teriyaki chicken, and beef skewers. The bottom picture shows some california rolls, manju [Japanese pastries], and the chicken and beef! YUM!

Although I don't have a picture, the shave ice was to die for. The lines were always so long! They had different flavors, and you could get ice cream, cream (condensed milk), or azuki [Japanese sweet red beans], on your shave ice. Or "The Works" with all of that on it! I got that, as well as some with just cream! They were very tasty! I think I ate four in two days... :]

Some other things not pictured are the Strawberry shortcake, Chinese chicken salad, corn, and a plethora of other foods they had but I did not try.

What is a festival without games and prizes? On Saturday, I can't even begin to guess how many times I played Bingo to no avail! On Sunday, I had more luck, and I won some Japanese mugs! They're quite nice and great for tea!

I enjoyed spending all my money on games, when I wasn't eating food! I played "Color Spot", where you have to throw dimes, and won some stuffed animals! I put them on my bed! I still sleep with stuffed animals! :D
I saw a cute Shiba Inu while trying to win Bingo! This type of dog is from Japan and means "brushwood dog' In English!

The festival was selling these fans! We bought the red and purple ones! These fans are high quality, have gold flowers, and are very expensive. Maybe I can use them for odori, or Japanese dancing!

Sorry about the picture.. bad lighting and I was about to fall asleep..and I have no concealer // foundation = icky skin ! So much for a 'beauty' blog. Oops!

This makeup matched with my purple fan! Mind you, this makeup went through my sweating on the 90+ degrees day, a nap, and a bunch of yawning (watery eyes).

I used 'Flash' by Urban Decay as eyeshadow for the top of my lid, after putting on Urban Decay's Primer Potion. Then, I put some white eyeshadow in the inner corner of my eye to make my eyes look brighter and more awake. For eyeliner, I lined with Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner pencil in the same shade as the eyeliner. On the top, I used I used 'Perversion' for the liquid liner, which is just black. Normally I am not that good with liquid liner, let alone black, but this time it turned out okay. Finally, I used Diorshow Blackout Mascara on my lashes after curling.

Overal, quick makeup, but presentable. :]
